It’s time to stop the revolving door leading to - Homelessness, repeat hospitalizations, violence, law enforcement encounters, incarcerations, and criminalization of mental illness.

In Massachusetts a critical treatment tool is missing that is proven to help save lives.

Massachusetts is one of just three states not to have adopted Critical Community Health Services, also known as Assisted Outpatient Treatment or AOT. It is a proven and effective way to treat serious mental illness (SMI) in an outpatient setting under court supervision.

AOT is designed to help motivate an adult with SMI, who struggles with voluntary treatment adherence, to engage fully with their treatment plan; focusing the attention of treatment providers on the need to work diligently to keep the person engaged in effective treatment, thus ensuring continuity of care.
